‘Coolie’ Overseas Rights Sold for Record ₹90 Crores; Hindi Version Titled ‘Coolie: The Powerhouse’
Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Coolie continues to set new benchmarks even before its theatrical release. The film’s overseas theatrical rights have been closed at a record-breaking ₹90 crores on a Minimum Guarantee (MG) basis, marking the highest-ever overseas deal for a Tamil film.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie has been generating massive buzz ever since its announcement. Adding to the excitement, the film will also have a wide release across North India under the title “Coolie: The Powerhouse”, aimed at capitalizing on Rajinikanth’s growing pan-Indian appeal.
The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2025, making it a big Independence Day weekend release. With a power-packed cast, gripping action, and the star power of Rajinikanth, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of the year both domestically and internationally. Sun Pictures banner has bankrolled the movie which also has Tollywood star Nagarjuna in an antagonist role.
Coolie also stars Shruti Haasan in the female lead role and Kannada star Upendra in a key role. The film has its music being composed by Anirudh.
