Telugu Filmmaker Satya Reddy Set for Hollywood Debut
Telugu filmmaker and producer Satya Reddy, who has extensive experience in the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi film industries, is preparing to make his Hollywood debut with a major big-budget film. He has registered a new banner called Pan World Cinemas for this venture. The film, which will be produced on a Hollywood scale, has been titled “King Buddha” in all languages.
A Career Spanning Decades
Reddy’s cinematic journey began approximately 25 years ago with the film “Sardar Chinnapareddy.” He has since directed, produced, and even acted in 55 films, including “Premikula Roju,” “Kurrakaru” (with actor Kunal), and “Rangula Kala.” His work with numerous prominent actors and actresses, including Karishma Kotak (“Shankar Dada Zindabad” fame), has earned him a distinct place in the industry. Beyond his creative roles, he is a key figure in the Producers Council and was elected as the Chairman of the Producer Sector of the Telugu Film Chamber in 2016.
The Inspiration for “King Buddha”
The inspiration for his Hollywood project came during the production of “Ukku Satyagraham,” a film he produced with the renowned folk singer Gaddar to protest the privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The film was translated into several languages, and while working with Russian and American Hollywood actors on the project, Reddy decided to take on a larger, international film.
During the making of “Ukku Satyagraham,” Gaddar’s encouragement prompted him to pursue a film on Buddhism in Hollywood. For “King Buddha,” Reddy has already scouted locations in several countries, including the United States, China, Tibet, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. He stated that casting and crew selection are currently underway and that he plans to announce all the details, including a poster launch, at an event in the U.S. soon.
