‘Kantara Chapter 1’ (Hindi) Records a Decent First Extended Weekend with ₹68.50 Cr Nett

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has managed to post a decent total at the Hindi box office, collecting ₹68.50 crore nett over its first extended weekend. While the film opened to strong buzz nationwide, its performance has been mixed across regions.

After a drop on Friday, the film witnessed a good jump on Saturday and a further decent rise on Sunday, showing that audience interest continues to build, especially in select circuits.

Box Office Breakdown (Hindi Version):

Day 1: ₹17.50 Cr

Day 2: ₹11 Cr

Day 3: ₹19 Cr

Day 4: ₹21 Cr
Total: ₹68.50 Cr Nett

Despite the respectable weekend numbers, trade analysts point out that the overall trend isn’t very encouraging. The film’s Hindi business is primarily driven by Maharashtra, while North India and East (except Odisha) have remained on the lower side. Even Gujarat, known for its mass film audience, has not performed up to expectations.

Given the film’s massive franchise value, strong brand recall from the original Kantara, and the advantage of a national holiday weekend release, industry trackers believe it should have ideally crossed ₹100 crore in its first weekend itself.

For Kantara Chapter 1 to sustain its box office momentum and aim for a lifetime total above ₹150 crore, it will need to hold steady and collect in double digits on Monday.
