Ajith Kumar’s #AK64 Faces a Major Setback as Goldmines (AGS) Steps Away: Salary Negotiation Clash Halts Progress
Ajith Kumar’s much-awaited project #AK64 has hit another roadblock, with Goldmines (currently AGS) stepping back from the film after Romeo Pictures earlier opted out. The primary issue, according to industry insiders, stems from a major disagreement during salary negotiations, creating an unexpected standstill for one of the most anticipated Tamil films in development.

Reports suggest that the first spark of conflict emerged when Ajith Kumar quoted an estimated ₹185 crore as his remuneration. AGS, known throughout the industry for its strict financial discipline and tightly planned production budgets, found the figure significantly beyond their comfort zone. While the production house expressed strong interest in backing the project initially, the massive payout demanded by the star became a point of contention.
To maintain their budgeting framework, AGS offered a revised salary package in the range of ₹80–₹90 crore, nearly 50% lower than Ajith’s quoted amount. This drastic reduction reportedly left Ajith Kumar disappointed, as it did not align with his expectations or current market positioning. Despite the reaction, AGS chose to remain firm, prioritizing business stability and cost management over stretching their financial boundaries.
With the negotiation reaching an impasse, AGS ultimately decided to withdraw from the project. This marks the second major production house to step away from AK64, creating growing uncertainty around the film’s immediate future. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see which producer or studio will come forward to take up the ambitious venture.
As discussions continue behind the scenes, the industry is watching closely. For now, AK64’s next move remains unclear, but expectations remain high that a strong production partner will emerge soon to bring the project back on track.
