O’Romeo Cleared With ‘A’ Certificate; Shahid Kapoor–Triptii Dimri Starrer Set for February 13 Release

One of the most talked-about Hindi films of the season, O’Romeo, has officially received an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on February 10, 2026. The censor clearance has also confirmed the film’s lengthy runtime 178.41 minutes (2 hours, 58 minutes, 41 seconds) indicating that director Vishal Bhardwaj is bringing an expansive, layered narrative to the big screen.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, O’Romeo stars Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026, positioning it as a major Valentine’s week release across India.
The ‘A’ certification has instantly intensified curiosity around the project.

Vishal Bhardwaj is known for his bold storytelling and mature cinematic themes, having previously adapted Shakespearean tragedies like Maqbool, Omkara, and Haider into critically acclaimed Indian dramas. With O’Romeo, industry observers believe the filmmaker may once again be exploring darker emotional territories, blending romance with violence, politics, and psychological conflict.
Shahid Kapoor’s involvement has further amplified expectations.

The actor has often delivered some of his strongest performances in intense roles, and sources close to the production suggest his character in O’Romeo will be emotionally volatile and morally complex. Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri fresh off rising pan-India popularity is said to play a pivotal character that drives the emotional arc of the narrative rather than serving as a conventional romantic lead.
The nearly three-hour runtime hints at a sweeping story with multiple character layers and dramatic set-pieces.

Reports indicate the film features elaborate production design, stylized action sequences, and Bhardwaj’s signature poetic dialogues. Music is also expected to play a crucial role, as the director traditionally integrates songs into the narrative rather than treating them as standalone elements.

Trade analysts consider O’Romeo a high-stakes release for Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in 2026. The combination of Bhardwaj’s filmmaking style, Shahid Kapoor’s performance-oriented image, and the adult certification suggests the film is aimed more at urban multiplex audiences than a conventional mass entertainer.

Releasing just ahead of Valentine’s Day, O’Romeo is positioning itself as a dark romantic drama rather than a feel-good love story. With its mature certification, extended runtime, and strong creative pedigree, the film is shaping up to be one of the most distinctive theatrical releases of the year.
All eyes are now on February 13 to see whether O’Romeo can translate its strong pre-release buzz into box-office success and critical acclaim.
