Tamil Star hero Suriya’s forthcoming movie, Retro is gearing up for a May 1st release. Touted as a romantic action film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film is produced by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment
The film stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead role. As the release date is nearing, the team has applied for censor certificate. Reports suggest that the film’s runtime is locked as 2 hours 48 minutes. Reports also suggest that the film has cleared the censor formalities with U/A certificate with Zero cuts.
Talk is also that the film’s synopsis is the quest of Parivel Kannan trying to reclaim his lost love Rukmini and the challenges he faces on the way. While Pooja Hegde’s Character Name is Rukmini, Suriya’s Character Name is Parivel Kannan.
The official title was revealed in December 2024. Principal photography commenced in June 2024 and wrapped by early-October. Reports also suggest that the filming locations included the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ooty, Kerala and Chennai. The film has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography handled by Shreyaas Krishna and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Retro has a subtitle Love, Laughter, War. The film will have a simultaneous release in Telugu with the same title.
