Thalapathy Vijay’s Jananayagan Creates History: Tamil Nadu Theatrical Rights Sold for Record ₹105 Crore
Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan is already rewriting trade records even before its release. In a historic development for Tamil cinema, the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the film have been sold for an unprecedented ₹105 crore, marking the highest-ever figure for a TN territory deal.

This landmark achievement once again confirms Vijay’s unmatched box-office pull and solidifies his status as one of India’s biggest crowd-pullers.Instead of a single buyer acquiring the rights, the makers opted for a split-distribution strategy, dividing the state into six key regions. This move has attracted multiple leading distributors who have invested heavily, confident in the film’s massive commercial potential. In the Salem, Trichy, and Madurai areas, noted distributors Five Star Senthil and Narayanasamy secured the rights for a combined ₹35 crore, highlighting strong expectations from these high-footfall regions.
The Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari territories have been picked up by Pratap, while the North Arcot and South Arcot regions were acquired by S Pictures Seenu, a prominent name in the trade. The Coimbatore territory rights went to Mannar, and the highly lucrative Chennai City and Chengalpattu region has been purchased by the well-established AGS banner. Altogether, the six areas cumulatively amount to ₹70 crore, contributing to the overall Tamil Nadu total of ₹105 crore.
Industry insiders reveal that Jana Nayagan is carrying exceptional hype thanks to its grand production scale, strong promotional buzz, and Vijay’s dominating fan base. With this historic pre-release business, the film has set a new benchmark for Kollywood theatrical rights and raised expectations sky-high for its box-office performance.
As always, a Thalapathy Vijay film has not just generated excitement but has also redefined market standards proving once again why he remains the most bankable star in Tamil cinema.
