Vishnu Vishal Opens Up About the OTT Journey of Mohandas and Theatrical Choice for FIR
Actor Vishnu Vishal, known for his versatile performances, recently spoke candidly about his approach to theatrical and OTT releases, shedding light on the unique cases of Mohandas and FIR. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that Mohandas was conceptualized and created exclusively for the OTT space, not for the big screen.âMohandas was a film made specifically for OTT release,â
Vishnu shared. âThe director delayed the release slightly, and by that time, the trend had shifted. Everyone began to believe that direct OTT releases were the future.âThe actor further discussed how this phase coincided with the completion of FIR, another of his projects. âOTT platforms offered me huge amounts for FIR,â he recalled. âIf I had accepted those offers, it wouldâve been my biggest financial success. But I strongly believed FIR deserved a theatrical release.â
Vishnu explained that Mohandas was designed differently both in theme and treatment. âItâs a film that handles a very sensitive subject. Though itâs suitable for all audiences â parents, youngsters, boys, and girls â itâs not meant for collective theatrical viewing,â he stated. He added that the nature of the film calls for an intimate viewing experience, which OTT platforms are ideal for. âI felt it was better suited for individual and reflective watching. Thatâs why I didnât push for a theatrical release,â Vishnu clarified.
The actor concluded by emphasizing the importance of understanding the medium for each project. âNot every film is meant for theatres. Some stories reach people more effectively in personal spaces â and Mohandas is one such film.â
Vishnu Vishalâs thoughtful choices underline his evolving understanding of cinema and audience engagement in the changing digital era.
