Dear Uma: Well executed social drama(3.25/5)

Telugu actress Sumaya Reddy is making her debut as a heroine, producer, and writer with the film titled, Dear Uma which is releasing on April 18th. Directed by Sai Rajesh Mahadev, the film also stars Prithvi Amber in the male lead role and is out for public viewing today. Let’s Review it. 

Story:

A medico named Uma(Sumaya Reddy) comes all the way from village to pursue her medicine in a well-known medical college. On the other hand, a youngster Dev(Prithvi Amber), a music enthusiastic will be on his music trails. At one point in time, Dev left with no hope in life will come on roads. This is the time, Uma comes to rescue Dev for his shelter troubles. Why Uma helps Dev? Who is Uma and what is her backstory? After getting to know about Uma’s past, How will Dev in return helps her? Forms the crucial point in the proceedings. 

Plus points:

Sumaya Reddy is super confident on the screen and delivered her best in the key role which has a scope to perform. She acted naturally and the same reflect with her acting as Girl-next-door character. Sumaya Reddy is gorgeous on the screen and did her best for the given key role. 

Apart from acting, Sumaya Reddy even wrote the story l for the film and she should be appreciated for handling multiple things so perfectly. Actor Prithvi Amber is stylish on the screen and gave a superb performance in the given crucial role. His chemistry with the heroine is adorable on the screen. Yet another actor Kamal Kama Raju is a perfect pick for given key role. 

Other supporting artists such as Ajay Gosh and ’30 Years’ Prudhvi are apt in their roles. The hospital scene which come during the second half proceedings is good and exposes the dark secrets in cooperate hospitals effectively. 

Minus points:

The pace of the film drops a bit during the first half proceedings, if racy narration is inserted in treatment, the results would have been unanimous. 

The scene order during the second half proceedings would have handled in a better way. 

Technical Department:

Director Sai Rajesh Mahadev did a decent job in execution of the film concept. If given a free hand, he has the capacity to do miracles. 

Music by Radhan is fine as the montage songs look beautifully and placed at the right spot. His background score literally lifts the mood of the film at every crucial junction. 

The photography by Raj Thota is an added advantage for the film as he framing and texture is solid backbone for this hard-hitting social drama. The editing work is decent enough. 

The production values for this tight budget movie are okay. 

Verdict:

All in all, Dear Uma is a commercially executed social drama that has elements needed for all age groups. Be it love scenes or social elements, Dear Uma is a perfect pick during the weekend to watch your family.
