Nandamuri Balakrishna is in full form with back to back hits for the past few years. Adding excitement among the fans, he collaborated with mass director Boyapati Srinu for the fourth time for a movie titled, Akhanda 2 : Thandavam. Amidst huge expectations among the trade and fans alike, the movie is scheduled to hit the screens on December 12,2025 with a day before premiers on December 11th with night shows. Let’s Review it.
Synopsis:
Akhanda 2 Thandavam starts with a quick introduction of 2021 film, Akhanda. The film is a proper sequel where both the twins takes birth from the mother(Viji Chandrasekhar) but one of kids will be moved aside by Agroha( JB) and will have a normal life and grow up as an Agroha as Lord Shiva’s sanik who has some super natural Powers built-in. On the other hand, Murali Krishna ( other Balakrishna) will be showed as a local political leader in the Ananthapur area in Rayalaseema. After the death of his wife, Murali Krishna will be leading a single life along with his only daughter Janani (Harshaali Malhotra) and his old aged mother. What happens to Murali Krishna’s family? What will Agroha do to rescue Janani? What is the problem that nation has been facing? How will Agroha deal with the problem, that forms the crucial crux.
Performances:
Nandamuri Balakrishna is one and only major asset for the film. Be it in action blocks or dance movements in only one mass song, the aura he carries with his energetic screen presence will be loved by his fans and the audience alike.Harshaali Malhotra is okay in her given significant role. Samyuktha Menon is good in her cameo role. Other supporting artists are decent in their given roles. Actors like Aadhi Pinisetty and Kabir Duhan Singh, Saswata Chatterjee, Ronson Vincent are okay.
Analysis:
Director Boyapati Srinu and Nandamuri Balakrishna combination has a seperate fan base among the audience and craze in trade circles.Living up to sky high expectations, the movie has a few action blocks that will be loved by the fans but the movie has some dialogues which turns into preechy on our Dharma.A few over the top action sequences might not get an universal acceptance. It is better to ignore logics if you want to enjoy the film in the theatres.
Technical Department:
Music by SS Thaman is good but falls short of expectations due to high expectations from the duo. The background is passable and has a few chiches here and there. The Cinematography work is fine. Editing is okay but would have been better. The production values by 14 Reels Plus banner are rich and so is case with the production design work.Action part choreographed by Ram‑Lakshman is outstanding.
Verdict:
Altogether, Akhand 2 Thandavam is a devotional drama that is laced with a action blocks that will satisfy Balayya’s fans. Director Boyapati Srinu has tried to establish the glory of our own drama that will be liked by the audience. Especially, the North audience which will explore the film even more at the box office.
