Story:
The movie takes off with a golden idol of goddess Laxmi The idol will be found to Racha Ravi. Under mysterious circumstances, goes in the hands of a old man named Rajayya(Balagam Sudhakar Reddy). He forgets where he kept it and leads a happy life with his family. On the other hand, Rajayya’s son Mallayya (Brahmaji) will be suffering from family problems. He has, a wife Saroja (Amani) and two children. How the golden idol helps Mallayya? What is the role of Dhanya Balakrishnan(Varu) and Mani Aegurla in the plotline? Forms a crucial crux.
Plus Points:
Brahmaji gets a crucial role and he gave his best utilizing his acting experience. His getup is real and he is convincing as a responsible father.
Amani is good in her role as Brahmaji’s wife. She gave a outstanding performance as a typical village lady.
Actors such as Mani Aegurla and Dhanya Balakrishnan fitted perfectly in their given roles. Actors like Srinivas Avasarala and Racha Ravi are decent in their limited roles. Gangavva is okay in her cameo appearance.
Minus points:
The first half of the film runs on a slow note and film looks dragged in the course of time. Many scenes in the first half looks artificial and dull to the core.
Lack of emotional connection in the first half dilutes the proceedings and makes the audience loose interest on the movie.
Technical aspects:
Direction is okay but could have been better. The screenplay looks good in the second half of the movie which could have been better in the first half narration.
Editing work is okay so as the cinematography work as the village locations are captured beautifully.
The production values for this limited budget movie are good.
Verdict:
All in all, Baapu has a good emotional connectivity during the second half. If you ignore the proceedings during the first half, the film offers decent emotional treat during the second half and the scenes in the second half can be termed as a major plus for this emotional comedy drama.
