Bhairavam: Passable Mass Entertainer(3/5)

Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas starrer Bhairavam has generated good buzz among the targetted mass audience. Also starring Nara Rohit and Manchu Manoj in a key roles, the film has hit the screens on May 30th. Let’s Review it.

Synopsis:

Bhairavam prominently revolves around three brothers roles played by Nara Rohit, Manchu Manoj and Bellamkonda Sreenivas. Set in a village backdrop, the film deals with local politics. How the three brothers reunite to break all the devil forces? How will the brothers run the show with their mass appearance, forms the crucial crux.

Performances:

Bhairavam has a solid cast which have been presented with a good elevations. Be it Bellamkonda Srinivas or Manchu Manoj or Nara Rohit, all the three of them performed nicely.

On the other hand, the female leads are good on screen but their characters lacks depth in a solid manner. Except for Aditi Shankar, who impresses in couple of songs the rest of the heroines has nothing much to discuss. Divya Pillai and Anandhi are cute on screen in family roles but has nothing much to put it here.

Jayasudha is good in her mother role. Other artists such as Ajay among others are fine in their given roles.

Analysis:

Director Vijay had succeed to an extent in handling the script and cast in an decent manner. Bhairavam is a well-crafted multi-starrer with a power-packed script and the right blend of emotions. Takes a bit of time to get going and has a few unnecessary deviations like a song and love track. However, once the drama unfolds, it is done in a fairly engaging way till the interval which has a solid mass block.

The movie is carried by the three lead actors who all performed well and were perfectly apt. The drama works well in certain portions but feels too predictable and run of the mill in others. However,an unnecessary love track and songs hamper the flow. While the first half sets the stage for an engaging drama, the second half goes into an excessive action mode and the drama doesn’t reach its potential.

Technical Department:

The mmusic composed by Sri Charan is good. Be it the songs or his background score elevates the mass scenes nicely.

The photography work is superb and so is the case with the editing work which is sharp. The action part is solid and is choreographer in an authentic manner.

Last but not the least, direction by Vijay Kanakamedala is good and dealt all the three heroes in an impressive manner. In one word, a solid commercial director has evolved with Bhairavam.

Verdict:

All in all, Bhairavam is a passable mass entertainer. Overall, the film is an so-so rustic action drama that had a passable 1st half but could not capitalize on the setup in the 2nd half. The film had a soul and a potential to be a riveting drama but ends up being just a mediocre one-time watch due to the execution and forceful commercial elements at times. All we suggest is to watch Bhairavam if you have a free time or else wait for the film to come online.
