Dude: Enjoyable emotional rollercoaster ride (3/5)
Sensational star Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju’s youthful entertainer, Dude has been carrying great buzz among the audience. Directed by Keerthiswaran, the movie has hit the screens in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously on October 17,2025 as Diwali festival special. Come let’s Review this Mythi Movie Makers production.
Synopsis:
Gagan (Pradeep Ranganathan), a heartbroken young man, runs an event management company along with his cousin Kundhana (Mamitha Baiju). Things take an unexpected turn when Kundhana opens up about her feelings for Gagan. However, a series of impulsive choices soon change the course of their lives, leading to an emotional and dramatic journey that, forms the heart of the story.
Performances:
PR’s Style, his combo with Mamitha Nice. Sarathkumar shines in versatile role. Hridhu Gud addition. Though less emotional connect, Humour drives the narration to an extent.
Pradeep Ranganathan’s portrayal of frustration is outright hilarious, leaving the audience in splits especially during the uproarious interval sequence that brings the house down.
Seasoned actor Sarathkumar stands tall with a powerful performance, serving as one of the major strengths of Dude.
Mamitha Baiju shines in a meaningful role, and her on-screen chemistry with Pradeep Ranganathan adds charm to the narrative, making their sequences together thoroughly engaging.
Analysis:
Interval block 20 Mins rofl Final act could have been better but the film takes it’s own sweet time to get in the main plot. Until, pre-interval even the passable scenes are not handled in a proper manner.
Coming to director Keerthiswaran, he makes a fairly impressive debut, managing to deliver a film that keeps the audience entertained for the most part. However, certain plot points feel a bit rushed, and tightening the narrative flow is something he could focus on in his future projects.
Technical Department:
Music by Sai Abhaynakkar is okay but would have been much better. The cinematography work is good. The editing work is decent but would have been better.
The production values by Mythri Movie Makers are lavish. The production design work is good.
Verdict:
Altogether, Dude is passable entertainer during this festival weekend. Though the performances by lead cast is good, the major dips in the narrative makes the film as an okay watch. Dude carries an underlying message that adds depth to its narrative. The first half is engaging and packed with fun-filled moments, while the second half shifts gears into a more serious zone. Although the latter portions may not resonate equally with all viewers, Pradeep Ranganathan’s lively performance keeps the film engaging throughout. Overall, Dude offers a fairly satisfying experience, with its success largely hinging on how audiences respond to the emotional turn in the second half.
