Funky: Anudeep KV Fails to repeat the magic ( 2/5)

Young hero Vishwak Sen pinned a lot of hopes on his latest outing, Funky. Co-starring Kayadu Lohar as the female lead, Funky directed by Anudeep KV has hit the screens on February 13,2026. Let’s Review Funky.

Synopsis:

Komal (Vishwak Sen) is an upcoming film director. He initially says the budget is ₹4 crores, but ends up spending ₹40 crores on his debut film Funky. Shocked by this, the producer suffers a stroke and collapses. As a result, the producer’s daughter Chitra (Kayadu Lohar) steps in to take charge. She restarts the film with Komal, challenging him to complete the remaining shoot with just ₹1 crore.

Amid the dramatic developments that follow what does Komal do? Does he finish the film within the budget or not? What kind of drama unfolds between Komal and Chitra? Finally, what happens to the film Funky? Do Komal and Chitra end up together or not?The rest of the story answers these questions.

Performances:

Vishwak Sen appears miscast for this style of humour. Heroine Kayadu Lohar is cute on the screen but her character is not properly designed.

Other supporting artists such as Naresh and VT Ganesh are okay in their respective roles but struggles to create an impact.

Analysis:

The film is packed with continuous Anudeep-style one-liners. A few jokes click, but most of them come across as forced. On the flip side, the narrative progression feels weak, and the film suffers from evident editing and dubbing flaws.Adding to it, the entire film gives the impression of an extended Jabardasth-style skit or script stretched into a full-length movie.

Overall, Funky ends up as a loud, over-the-top comedy that raises a few laughs here and there, but largely falls flat. The film sticks firmly to Anudeep’s trademark one-liner driven humour. While a handful of jokes click, most of the comedy feels forced and eventually becomes tiring. Weak editing makes the movie play out like a stitched-together set of comedy skits rather than a proper narrative, and the dubbing issues are quite noticeable.Anudeep’s writing comes across repetitive and dated, with very little story to hold things together.

Technical Department:

Music by Bheems Ceciroleo is good as the movie has a couple of mass songs. But the BGM is adequate. The cinematography work by Sai Sriram is colourful throughout the film. The editing by Navin Nooli is shockingly poor.On the other hand, the production values by Sithara Entertainments are lavish. The production design by Avinash Kolla is good.

Verdict:

Altogether, Funky is a silly watch that has Anudeep’s style of one-liners, along with a few comedy scenes that worked in places, Vishwak Sen’s energy, and Bheems’ music have impressed at certain moments but some dialogues have the potential to generate laughter in theatres but ignored sadly.
