Kaliyugam 2064 : Unique concept (2.5/5)
Noted heroine Shraddha Srinath’s new film, Kaliyugam 2064 had a theatrical release on May 9th. Let’s Review it.
Story:
Set in the year 2064, the film starts on an intense note where the intelligent people live in a world named Residence. On the other hand, a group of people, who fights for food and water named Liberators has been showcased. What is the role of Pari(Shraddha Srinath), Shakti (Kishore) and Thomas( Iniyan Subramani) from the Liberators group will be stuck in the Residence at the different times? How will they survive in the intelligent world, forms the crucial crux.
Performances:
As usual, Shraddha Srinath is a perfect fit in the given role. She emoted expressions in emotional scenes nicely and gave an award-winning performance.
Kishore gets a meat role in which he gave an impressive performance. Iniyan Subramani is a surprise package for the movie as he gave a brilliant performance in the given role.
Other artists who did a key role in the movie are fine with their performances.
Analysis:
The concept of the film is bloody unique and grabs the audience attention. The introduction scenes have been captured well by the director.
On the flip side, slow and sleepy proceedings may divert the mood of the audience. If proper pre-production work would have done, the results would have been on par with Kalki.
Technical Department:
The direction by Pramodh Sundar is decent but his writing was strong and captivating. If he was given free hand in terms of budget, the film would have done wonders at the box office.
K.Ramcharan’s photography work is too good and the editing work by Nimz is great.
The background score given by the music composer takes the audience mood into the film. The production values for this highly ambitious project are largely good.
Verdict:
All in all, Kaliyugam 2064 is made with a never before seen concept which is beyond times. On the flip side, slow narration comes as demerit for the movie and ends up as a good OTT watch.
