Thammudu: Execution syndrome(2/5)
Hero Nithiin starrer emotional drama titled, Thammudu under the direction of Sreram Venu has released on July 4th, 2025. The film even marks the reentry of noted actress Laya. Amidst decent buzz among the audience, the film has hit the screens on July 4th. Let’s Review it.
Synopsis:
The film is all about a youngster Jay ( Nithiin) a professional archer (bow-and-arrow athlete) who competes at national and international levels encounters with a government employee named Jhansi Kiranmayee (aka Snehalatha)(Laya) and her family. Who is Jhansi? How is she related to Jay? What is role of a character Sneha Latha in the proceedings, Forms the key aspect of the movie.
Performances:
As expected Laya gets a meaty role. She did cent percent justice to her given key role and proven yet again that she can pull off emotional coated roles nicely. In one word, her reentry makes an impact on the audience strongly.
Nithiin is charming in his role as a youth, who goes to any extend to save the public who is in needy. Varsha Bollamma makes a perfect co-artist in her given crucial role.
Heroine Sampathami Gowda is okay in her limited screen time. Swastika did a good job in her given key role. Saurabh Sachdeva, who played the main antagonist role is good in his role but the ending of his character has not been designed properly.
The kid who played as Laya’s daughter in the movie was good in her role. Other kids and supporting artists are okay in their limited roles.
Analysis:
Director’s idea was good but it struggled with the presentation part. Though the scenes look decent, there is no proper establishment of the characters which come during the course of time.
For instance, Laya’s daughter in the movie has Hickkups sensation but there is no proper meaning or establishment for the scene in the movie.
Outrightly, the screenplay comes as a major defect for the movie. If the director would have taken care of the scene order at the scripting stage itself, the results would have been much better for sure.
Technical Department:
Director cum writer Sriram Venu failed in executing the movie in an engaging manner. Though his writer impresses at part, the director in him failed to capture the mood of the film in an convincing manner.
While the cinematography work by K. V. Guhan (supported by Sameer Reddy as co-DOP)is good, the editing by Prawin Pudi lacks sharpness.
Action Choreography by Vikram Mor is nice as action part in the movie was designed well. Last but not least, music and background Score by B Ajaneesh Loknath is good and elevates the movie to some extend. Sound Designer by Raja Krishnan id engaging. Art Director G. M. Sekhar has done a commendable job with his work in the outdoor locations. The production values for this limited budget movie by Dil Raju’s home banner SVC are superb.
Verdict:
All in all, Thammudu is yet another disappointing outing from hero Nithiin. Even though the emotional thread is good, the film suffers from an uneven narrative due to which the whole film gives a tiresome watch experience for the audience.
