For the past few decades, big-budget South Indian movies are either getting remade in Bollywood or getting directly released in Hindi in the dubbed versions. Following this trend has brought new fandom for the South stars in the North belt. Being restricted to only Telugu cinema for more than fifteen years and never had his films dubbed into other languages. But finally, with the Baahubali series, Prabhas went on to become the overnight Indian Superstar. As Baahubali Franchise went on to become a huge success, Prabhas got a solid craze among the North audience. In this way, Prabhas should thank director SS Rajamouli for introducing him to the North audience. With Baahubali, Prabhas has emerged as a pan-India star. Currently, he is having several pan-India movies in the pipeline.
In 2018, Kannada star Yash made a huge impact with his Hindi dubbed ‘KGF Chapter 1’ and is now ruling the Bollywood market with the recently released KGF Chapter 2. As per the Bollywood trade reports, the Hindi version of KGF 2 has high chances to collect more than Rs 500 gross from the Hindi version alone.
Among the current generation of South actors, Rana Daggubati is the first one to try his luck in Hindi films. Earlier, he was seen in a few popular films and portrayed prominent roles before he could get popular as Bhallal Dev in the Baahubali series. Later, he is continuing to star in ‘Housefull 4’ and also featured in the film that was released during the pandemic ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ and has a good lineup of projects.
Stylish star aka ICON STAR Allu Arjun who enjoys a good fandom in Kerala right from his ‘Happy’ movie days went on to bag a huge success in the form of ‘Pushpa-The Rise’ (Hindi version). Currently, Allu Arjun’s mannerisms in Pushpa are a trendsetter in the North belt. As the first part went on to become a huge hit, the expectations for the second part of Pushpa are very high among the North audience. The shooting for Pushpa 2 is expected to commence in July.
Jr.NTR who is a huge star in Telugu cinema had never ventured into other languages earlier. Trusting the director’s skills, NTR also known as Tarak with ace director Rajamouli’s RRR ventured into Bollywood and tasted a superhit and gained popularity in other languages. After RRR, NTR has been getting offers from Bollywood but the actor is in no hurry to sign projects at a fast pace. For his next project, NTR is doing a pan-Indian film with his close aide cum director Koratala Siva.
Ram Charan made a direct Bollywood debut in the year 2013 with the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Zanjeer’ but after the film ended up as a huge disaster, Ram Charan restricted himself to Tollywood. But after the release of Rajamouli’s RRR, he now tasted success at the Hindi cinema box office and gearing up to rule the North belt with Shankar’s film.
