Sankranthi 2027 Releases: Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Sharwanand and Sai Durgha Tej Gear Up for a Massive Box Office Clash
Tollywood is gearing up for an exciting Sankranthi 2027 season, with several highly anticipated films targeting the festive window. As one of the most lucrative periods for Telugu cinema, Sankranthi offers filmmakers an opportunity to attract family audiences and secure strong theatrical openings. With established stars, young heroes and promising entertainers preparing for the festival, the competition at the box office is expected to be intense.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka is among the biggest attractions of the season. Directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by KVN Productions, the action entertainer is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 13, 2027. Following their successful collaboration on Waltair Veerayya, the Chiranjeevi-Bobby combination has generated considerable expectations among fans. The film also features Anaswara Rajan, Nivetha Pethuraj, Sunil and Getup Srinu in important roles. The makers have reaffirmed the Sankranthi release date amid speculation about a possible postponement.

Victory Venkatesh and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram are also expected to entertain audiences with January 12 Vidudala, directed by Anil Ravipudi. The film is scheduled for release on January 12 and is expected to attract family audiences, given the director’s reputation for delivering commercially successful entertainers.
Sai Durgha Tej’s Sambarala Yeti Gattu, directed by Rohith KP, is another notable contender. The film has been targeting January 12, setting up the possibility of competition with other major releases during the opening days of the festival.
Meanwhile, Sharwanand is preparing to arrive with George Krish, directed by Sreenu Vaitla. The film is scheduled for January 14, adding another interesting title to the festive lineup. The combination of Sharwanand’s audience appeal and Vaitla’s entertainment-oriented filmmaking has generated curiosity.
The Sankranthi season is also expected to begin early with Mahakali, scheduled for January 8. The film is associated with the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, with Puja Aparna Kolluru directing and Akshaye Khanna, Bhoomi Shetty and other actors featuring in the project.
Apart from these films, other projects, including King 100 and Rajinikanth’s Dharman, have also attracted attention amid discussions about the festive release window. However, their final schedules and participation in the Sankranthi race remain subject to confirmation.
With multiple films targeting the same holiday period, release-date adjustments, promotional campaigns and audience word of mouth could determine the eventual winners. Sankranthi 2027 promises an exciting contest, but the final lineup will become clearer as the release dates approach.
