The makers of Peddi, starring Global Star Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, have suffered a major setback in Telangana ahead of the film’s highly anticipated release. The producers, Mythri Movie Makers, have officially withdrawn their petition seeking a ticket price hike in the state after the High Court declined to grant immediate relief.

According to reports, the Peddi team filed a lunch-motion petition in the Telangana High Court requesting permission for enhanced ticket prices. The producers were hoping to secure an urgent order before the film’s release, which is scheduled for June 4. However, the court refused to issue immediate directions and instead postponed the hearing to June 6.

The adjournment created a significant challenge for the makers, as the film would already have completed its opening days by the time the matter came up for hearing. Considering that the requested relief would have little practical value after the release, Mythri Movie Makers decided to withdraw the petition altogether.

As a result, Peddi will be screened in Telangana at regular ticket prices, without any special hike for its opening week. This development comes as a disappointment for the film’s producers, who were expecting increased revenues during the crucial initial days of the release.

Interestingly, the situation is different in Andhra Pradesh, where ticket price revisions have reportedly been approved. This means that while audiences in Andhra Pradesh may pay higher rates to watch the film, moviegoers in Telangana will be able to enjoy Peddi at standard pricing.
Despite the setback, trade analysts believe the decision may not significantly affect the film’s overall performance if audience response remains positive. Peddi has generated considerable buzz thanks to the combination of Ram Charan, director Buchi Babu Sana, and the strong promotional campaign carried out by the team. Expectations are particularly high among fans who are eager to see Ram Charan in a mass-action entertainer on the big screen.

With only a few days left before release, all eyes are now on the film’s opening-day collections and audience reception. While the absence of a ticket price hike in Telangana may impact potential revenue projections, the makers will be hoping that strong footfalls and positive word-of-mouth compensate for the loss. Peddi is set to hit theatres worldwide on June 4 amid huge expectations from fans and the trade alike. A R Rahaman is the music composer for Peddi which is said to be an emotional sports drama.
