Dhanush’s OM Postponed: Film Moves Out of October 16 Release Date
Kollywood star Dhanush’s much-awaited film OM has been postponed from its previously announced October 16, 2026 release date. The decision was confirmed by Dhanush through a note, where the actor explained that he does not want the film to clash with two major releases lined up around the same period.
The postponement comes amid a highly competitive release calendar. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 15, just a day before OM’s earlier release date. In addition, Suriya’s already-announced Scene is also expected to hit screens during the Diwali festive period. With multiple major Tamil films targeting the same window, the makers of OM have opted to step away from the crowded release corridor.
In his statement, Dhanush made it clear that the decision was taken out of consideration for both the audience and the other films. Rather than entering into a direct clash with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which is arriving a day earlier, or Suriya’s Scene during the Diwali season, the team has decided to look for a more suitable release date.
