LCU Isn’t Dead — Lokesh Kanagaraj Confirms Kaithi 2, Vikram 2 & Rolex After Allu Arjun’s AA23!

In a major relief for fans of the gritty Lokesh Cinematic Universe, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has once again shut down rumours that the franchise is over. Speaking recently, he made it crystal clear: the LCU lives on, and he will dive straight back into it the moment he wraps his current high-profile commitment — the much-anticipated AA23 with Allu Arjun.

AA23 (tentatively titled) marks Lokesh’s Telugu directorial debut and Allu Arjun’s 23rd film as lead. The pan-Indian action entertainer, produced by Mythri Movie Makers with music by Anirudh Ravichander, has been generating massive buzz since its official announcement on Bhogi earlier this year. Shooting is expected to commence later in 2026, once Allu Arjun wraps his ongoing commitments.

Allu Arjun is currently busy with the big-budget sci-fi action film Raaka, directed by Atlee and bankrolled by Sun Pictures. The project features music by Sai Abhyankkar and has Deepika Padukone locked as one of the lead heroines. Reports suggest Allu Arjun aims to complete Raaka by September 2026, paving the way for AA23 to roll in the final quarter of the year. The superstar’s packed calendar only adds to the excitement around both films.

Lokesh, however, has been careful to manage expectations. In his latest statements, he reiterated that AA23 is a long-pending personal commitment he wanted to honour. Once it is done, he will immediately return to the LCU. Topping the list is Kaithi 2 with Karthi, followed by Vikram 2 and the standalone Rolex film. He also confirmed that Benz the LCU film currently in production under his banner remains very much part of the universe.

The director was emphatic: “LCU is not closed. I didn’t even name it — the fans did. These are my commitments and I will honour them.” His words have put an end to weeks of speculation that followed his decision to step away temporarily from LCU projects after Coolie.

For fans who have been waiting for the next chapter in the dark, interconnected world of Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo, this is the update they needed. Lokesh has promised that the universe will expand again — and bigger — once AA23 is in the bag.

The coming months will be crucial. As Allu Arjun balances Raaka and AA23, and Lokesh prepares to deliver a mass entertainer in Telugu before returning to his Tamil roots, one thing is certain: 2027 and beyond are shaping up to be explosive for both stars and the LCU faithful.

Lokesh Kanagaraj isn’t abandoning the universe he built he’s just taking a powerful detour with Allu Arjun first. LCU fans, the wait is almost over.
