The makers of Krishnavataram have received a major boost as the Uttar Pradesh Government officially declared the film tax-free in the state. The announcement was made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, giving a significant push to the mythological epic that has been performing steadily in theatres since its release.
Apart from granting tax exemption, the UP Government has also directed special screenings of the film across various districts. The initiative is aimed at introducing children and younger audiences to Indian culture, spirituality and heritage through cinema. This move is expected to increase the film’s reach among family audiences and students, while also strengthening its cultural relevance.

Directed by Hardik Gajjar, Krishnavataram has been positioned as a grand mythological saga rooted in Indian traditions and storytelling. The film stars Siddharth Gupta in the lead role, alongside Sanskruti Jayana, Sushmitha Bhat and Nivaashiyni Krishnan in important roles. Their performances, combined with the film’s visual scale and devotional narrative, have helped the movie connect with audiences looking for rooted Indian stories on the big screen.
The tax-free status is expected to improve the film’s theatrical business in Uttar Pradesh by making tickets more affordable for the public. Industry observers believe this could also encourage stronger footfalls in tier-2 and tier-3 centres, where mythological dramas continue to enjoy a loyal audience base. The decision further reflects the growing trend of state governments supporting films that promote Indian values, history and culture.
Produced by Sajan Raj Kurup, Shobha Sant, Poonam Shroff Gajjar and Parth Gajjar, Krishnavataram has also generated attention for its ambitious long-term vision. The film has been conceived as the first installment in a planned three-part cinematic franchise, indicating that the makers are aiming to build a large-scale mythological universe for Indian audiences.
With government support, positive audience response and a culturally resonant theme, Krishnavataram appears to have gained fresh momentum at the box office. The tax exemption in Uttar Pradesh could prove to be a turning point in expanding the film’s reach and solidifying its place as one of the notable mythological releases of the year.
