Chennai Love Story: Soulful emotional journey (3/5)
Starring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya as the lead pair, an emotional drama titled, Chennai Love Story has created a lot of positive buzz with its promos. Noted director Sai Rajesh provided story and screenplay to the movie which was directed by Ravi Namburii. Produced by reputed maker SKN, the film is scheduled to hit the screens on July 24th but had a premiers on July 23rd with night shows. Let’s Review Chennai Love Story.
Synopsis:
Nivi (Sri Gouri Priya) , who is in a serious relationship with her long time boyfriend Aadhi( Thrigun) gets upset with Aadhi’s behaviour as he suddenly breakups with her. Later, to get out of Aadhi’s memories, Nivi gets addicted to alcohol. During this bad phase, an aspiring director named Steven Sankar( Kiran Abbavaram) comes into her life. What happenes next, forms the crucial crux.
Performances:
Kiran Abbavaram has delivered a settled performance throughout the film. His acting is emotional scenes are hard-hitting and natural.
Sri Gouri Priya has given a fantastic performance in her character which a multiple dimensions in it. Her character reflects every girl and she has done a sincere attempt. Her performance is graveyard scenes in the second half showcases what a actor she is.
Thrigun and other actors who played a key role are okay in their respective characters.
Analysis:
The movie has its story and screenplay provided by Sai Rajesh. Though the story has a fresh feel in it, many opinioned that the screenplay would have been tighter especially during the second half sequences.
The major defect for the film is it’s unconventional second half as it might gets mixed opinion from the viewers. Adding to it, the length of the movie is painful. Though the proceedings during look decent enough, they might not get universal acceptance.
As the movie is immediate project after the blockbuster Baby, the expectations on Chennai Love Story are very high among the audience across twin Telugu states but the film fails to meet the sky high expectations.
Technical Support:
Music composed by Mani Sharma is a major asset for the film. While his songs has a vintage feel, his background Score helps for the film whenever required.
The cinematography by Daniel Viswas is superb as every frame has been nicely developed, the editing work by Santhosh Naidu is decent and close to 15 minutes of the entire film needs to be trimmed.
While the direction by Ravi Namburii is decent enough, the production values by SKN’s Mass Movie Makers are lavish.
Verdict:
Altogether, Chennai Love Story is an emotional love drama that has a good first half and a decent second half. While music composed by Mani Sharma plays a key asset for the movie, the story given by Sai Rajesh has a fresh content but the screenplay might get a mixed opinion for the audience. Despite the above mentioned drawbacks, Chennai Love Story ends up as a satisfying watch for the performances by Sri Gouri Priya and Kiran Abbavaram.
