Set in the backdrop of picturesque Godavari villages a movie titled, Godari Guttupaina has generated good buzz among the audience. Directed by Subash Chandra, the movie starring Sumanth Prabhas, Nidhi Pradeep and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles is scheduled for a release on May 8,2026 but had a premiers on May 7th with night shows. Let’s Review Godari Guttupaina movie.

Synopsis:

Raju (Sumanth Prabhas) studies only up to the 10th standard. Due to family responsibilities, he becomes an auto driver. He falls in love with Maya (Nidhi Pradeep), who is pursuing engineering. Maya is a topper in academics and lives entirely according to the wishes of her father Shyambabu (Jagapathi Babu). She dreams of marrying the man chosen by her father.

However, impressed by Raju’s words and kind-hearted nature, Maya begins to like him.Since they belong to different castes and Raju works as an auto driver, Shyambabu creates a conspiracy to separate Maya from him. What happens after that? Did Shyambabu understand his daughter’s love? Did Raju’s goodness bring a change in him? Did Raju and Maya finally unite? And how did Rehman (Sudarshan) and their other friends help their love story? The rest of the story unfolds around these questions.

Performances:

Sumanth Prabhas did complete justice to the role of an auto driver. He impressed with his natural performance. The way the character was designed in a settled manner without over-the-top heroism worked well. Though he is a Telangana native, he put in good effort to deliver dialogues in the Godavari dialect.

Nidhi Pradeep suited the heroine’s role perfectly. She appeared with minimal makeup, which added to the character’s natural look. Playing affectionate father roles is nothing new for Jagapathi Babu, and he effortlessly owned the character of Shyambabu.

Laila is present in the film, but her character lacks proper justification and impactful dialogues. Sudarshan’s comedy works in a few places. However, Rajkumar Kasireddy, Viva Harsha, and Rohit Krishna Varma could not generate much laughter.

Devi Sri Prasad, Rajeev Kanakala, and Harshavardhan performed well within the scope of their roles.

Analysis:

The film’s concept around selfless love cannot be stopped by caste, religion, wealth, or social status, director Subhash Chandra crafted Godari Gattupaina as a romantic entertainer set against the backdrop of Konaseema.

Godari Guttupaina revolves around the life of a girl who dreams of marrying a man who would love her even more deeply than her own father. The story explores how a boy from a different religion, with a completely contrasting mindset, enters her life. The director presents the conflicts that arise in their love story by blending emotions and entertainment throughout the film.

The film thoughtfully portrays how excessive love and attachment a daughter has toward her father can sometimes turn selfish. It delivers the message that for love, hearts coming together is enough, and caste has no relevance. What works well is that this message is conveyed convincingly through commercial elements rather than in a forced, preachy manner.

Auto drivers are often looked down upon, and even in films they are usually portrayed in a massy stereotype. But this movie presents the idea that auto drivers can also be genuinely good-hearted people, which feels refreshing.

The Konaseema backdrop becomes a major advantage for this love story. Director Subhash Chandra wrote the dialogues completely in the Konaseema dialect, adding authenticity. The film naturally showcases the fun, friendship, and emotional bonding shared among the youngsters of Konaseema.

References to Hindu, Christian, and Muslim religions appear throughout the film. However, instead of overemphasizing this sensitive topic, the director smartly integrates it as a natural part of the story. The concept of Godari Gattupaina is not particularly new. Telugu cinema has already explored similar themes many times before. The reasons behind the lead pair coming together and later separating are not written strongly enough. Most of the punchlines delivered by Sudarshan and Rajkumar Kasireddy fail to land effectively. The comedy also feels overly loud, resembling typical over-the-top Tamil commercial entertainers.

Technical Department:

Nagavamsi Krishna’s background score and songs remind viewers of several past superhit films. The references to Prabhas have been used effectively. Even though the film’s runtime is less than two and a half hours, it still feels a bit lengthy at times.

The production values are decent. Cinematographer Sai Santosh beautifully captured the scenic beauty of the Godavari districts on screen.

Verdict:

Altogether, Godari Guttupaina is a rural love story that has its romantic moments through out the movie. Performances by the lead cast makes the film a worthy watch during this weekend. Sumanth Prabhas revolves around the love story of an auto driver and a college girl, blending romance, comedy in this emotional drama.
