Romanchikam: Breezy watch with a message (3/5)
Starring Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar in the lead role, a romantic comedy titled, Romanchikam is carrying good expectations among the moviegoers. Reputed filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s family banner Bhadrakali Pictures banner has produced the film and is directed by Venu Gopal Reddy. Romanchikam is scheduled for a grand release on September 3rd but had a premiers last night. Let’s Review Romanchikam now.
Synopsis:
Romanchikam is all about new-age love story between two Gen Z youngsters. A care Free guy named Anvesh ( Sumanth Prabhas), who has Hyderabad based start up flirts a beautiful Chennai based girl Maithili (Ananthika Sanilkumar) through online App. After interesting initial conversation, friendship blooms between them which eventually gets closer to eachother. When Anvesh tries to meet Maithili, she hesitats and blocks Anvesh phone number. All of sudden, she calls Anvesh and asks him to pick up her from the Hyderabad Railway station. Why Maithili behaves in a peculiar manner? What is reason behind her wired behaviour? How Anvesh handle the things? What message is given to Gen Z’s, that forms the crucial crux.
Performances:
Sumanth Prabhas’ acting is so natural. Especially, his acting during tensed scenes are authentic and true to the scene order.
Ananthika Sanilkumar is charming on the screen and her dance is attractive in a couple of montage songs. Performance wise, she is proved with her acting skills. Her expressions are so adorable. Ananthika is dam good with her expressions with her eyes.
The couple, who played as both the hero and heroine are so perfect in their limited but key roles.
Upendra Limaye evoke decent laughs in his sincere police officer role. Venkatesh Kakumanu,Narendra Ravi,Mani Aegurla and Sai Sohan evoke decent to good laughs as hero’s friends.

Analysis:
Firstly, the direction by Venue Gopal Reddy is decent enough. His idea of exploring the inner feelings and crazy thoughts of Gen-Z generation is good. Coming to his screenplay, there are a few lag scenes in the both the halves, they are cleverly overcome in the interval portions and during the climax.
The director would have focused on the presented the film in an even crisper way to overcome negative feedback regarding the scene order and presention format.
In one word, the film is fine but the audience might feel like something is missing in the context. The uneven screenplay might be the reason for the emptiness after watching the movie.
Technical Support:
The music by Vasuki Vaibhav is decent and surely would have been better for this gener.
The Cinematography by Pavan Pappul is good as he captured the locations in both Hyderabad and Chennai nicely. The editing work would have been tighter for a output.
Lastly, the production values by Bhadrakali Pictures owned by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s family are rich and commandable.
Verdict:
Altogether, Romanchikam is a fun-coated feel good comedy drama that has a nice message to contemporary Gen-Z ‘s. The fun side in the film is good and the chemistry between the lead pair is also good but romance is lacking in this Romanchikam which might dominant the box office prospects.
