Nagabandham: Visual spectacular (3/5)
Nagabandham starring Virat Karrna and Naba Natesh in the lead roles has generated a positive buzz among the audience with its promos. Directed by Abhishek Nama, the movie is out on July 3, 2026. Let’s Review Nagabandham.
Synopsis:
The story revolves around the legendary Nagabandham, a mystical gateway believed to protect an unimaginable treasure. To unlock it, two sacred relics are essential—the rare Brahmakamalam and an ancient holy manuscript. While the manuscript is already within reach, the Brahmakamalam is safeguarded at the revered Srirangapuram Ranganathaswamy Temple.
Driven by greed and ambition, Abdali (Rishabh Sawhney) launches a relentless mission to obtain both relics, manipulating everyone in his path to fulfill his objective. Standing firmly against him is Rudra (Virat Karrna), a fearless warrior determined to protect the sacred treasures and prevent the hidden power from falling into the wrong hands.
As the battle between good and evil intensifies, secrets unravel, loyalties are tested, and an epic confrontation unfolds. Whether Abdali succeeds in unlocking Nagabandham or Rudra manages to stop him forms the heart of this action-packed fantasy adventure.

Performances:
Vikrant Karrna is okay in his powerful screen time. He impresses as a Rudra and Naga Sadhu roles. Be it his physical transformation, or else his acting in the roles he pulled off the role perfectly.
Rishabh Sawhney delivers an imposing performance as the film’s primary antagonist, portraying the character’s ruthless and intimidating nature with conviction. His strong screen presence and well-executed performance make him a formidable villain, leaving a lasting impression. Nabha Natesh adds charm and elegance to the film, making a pleasing impact with her graceful screen presence.
Analysis:
Attempting a grand, larger-than-life cinematic spectacle is always a welcome ambition, but such films must first get the fundamentals right. Unfortunately, Nagabandham falls short in that regard. In recent years, mythological and deity-centric films have gained significant popularity, but a compelling concept alone cannot sustain audience engagement. Without a strong screenplay, engaging narration, and emotional depth, even the most visually ambitious projects struggle to leave a lasting impact.
With a runtime exceeding three hours and fifteen minutes, the film eventually becomes a tiring watch. Several sequences featuring the antagonist’s violent rampage are stretched far beyond what is necessary, with excessive bloodshed that adds little to the narrative. Tighter editing could have significantly improved the pacing and overall impact. The film also lacks emotional depth, making it difficult for the audience to connect with or fully invest in the protagonist’s journey.
Technical Support:
On the technical front, the film looks solid and the makers should be appreciated for spending huge amount on the canvas and making.
Director Abhisek Nama should be lauded for handling the subject on a decent note.
Cinematography work is brilliant as every frame of the film looks rich. The editing work is decent but would have chopped off a few portions for a better viewing experience.
Verdict:
Altogether, Nagabandham has an intriguing story which could have been presented in an even better way to reach out a wider section of the audience. Grand visuals, added with a great making, along with the decent acting from the lead actors, makes Nagabandham a one-time watch during this weekend.
