Thimmarajupalli TV: Realistic and Rooted Drama (3.5/5)
Thimmarajupalli TV is a rural-based drama, directed by V. Muniraju, who also handled writing and editing. Backed by Noted hero Kiran Abbavaram under KA Productions, the film combines a fresh cast with a technically solid crew, particularly in music and cinematography, Thimmarajupalli TV has hit the screens on April 17th. Let’s Review Thimmarajupalli TV.
Synopsis:
The story is set in the village of Thimmarajupalli in the year 1996. Satish (Sai Tej), who studied up to the 7th grade, spends his time committing small चोरी (petty thefts) in the village. He is in love with Sharada (Veda Jalandhar), who belongs to the same village, and she reciprocates his feelings.
On the occasion of Shivaratri, Satish rents a television, and the entire village gathers to watch a movie on it. Following a series of dramatic events, Rajappa, another villager, buys his own television. Soon, all the villagers flock to Rajappa’s house to watch TV. What happens next? How did the TV from Rajappa’s house go missing? What is Satish’s connection to the theft? And in the end, was the TV ever found or not? The rest of the story unfolds around these questions.
Performances:
The story of this film unfolds against the backdrop of the 1990s, which serves as one of its biggest strengths. The portrayal of the village Thimmarajupalli and its people feels very natural and authentic. The twist that comes at the end of the story also works as a strong positive for the film.
Sai Tej, who plays the lead role, delivers a very good performance. Veda Jalandhar, as the female lead, also does a commendable job. The love story between the lead pair is handled well and progresses nicely.
Pradeep Kotté, who plays another key role, is a major highlight of the film. He impresses with his performance by bringing in good variations suited to his character. Swathi Karimireddy, Amma Ramesh, and Satyanarayana, along with the rest of the cast, also perform effectively in their respective roles. Especially noteworthy is how the actors convincingly depict the lifestyle of people in the 1990s and their excitement toward watching television.
Analysis:
This film Thimmarajupalli TV will definitely connect with a certain section of the audience. However, since it stays away from regular commercial elements, it remains doubtful how well it will connect with the rest of the audience.
Director V. Muniraju has perfectly revealed several logical points, but he leaves a few aspects underdeveloped, presenting them in a very simple and indirect manner. Although he has written some key scenes effectively, a few portions especially in the middle of the second half could have been made more engaging.
Additionally, the screenplay feels quite routine and follows a predictable pattern. While the film does manage to create curiosity among the audience about what happens next, what transpired between Satish and the other characters, and what is going to happen, the narrative revolves heavily around the question of who stole the TV. Because of this, the film loses interest at certain points. The sequences leading up to the climax could also have been handled in a more impactful way.
Technical Department:
Director V. Muniraju succeeds in choosing a strong story backdrop, but falters in crafting gripping, high-tension scenes at certain places. Nevertheless, the scenes he has created are engaging.
The music composed by the music director is good. The cinematography stands out as a special highlight of the film.
The editing is also well done. The producers deserve appreciation for believing in the director’s vision and presenting such a unique film to the audience. Producers Kiran Abbavaram and Teja Velpucharla have maintained very good production values.
Verdict:
Altogether, Thimmarajupalli TV is a period emotional drama, evokes a sense of nostalgia for a certain section of the audience. The story, the TV-based backdrop of that era, and some emotional elements stand out as the film’s key highlights. Adding to it, the authentic performances by all the newcomers makes the film a must watch during this weekend.
